"i'm noticing a trend here..."

window shopping.

So, my trend forecasting class went on a field trip to Fashion Island last weekend, & our assignment was to find trends that were being showcased in different stores. I noticed a lot of the stores were highlighting lots of fur & animal prints. These are some of the displays I liked!

"vintage! so adorable."
Another assignment we were given last weekend was to find "fashionable people." Ashley (right), Phelena (center), & Briana (left) use color-blocking to accomplish a vintage inspired look. They pair high-waisted pencils skirts with basic tops & various accessories creating a classic, sophisticated look that never goes out of style!

"major tom"

My two favorite trends this season are definitely the military trend & the tomboy trend. I LOVE combat boots & marching jackets because they achieve the military look while creating that tomboy-ish vibe!

This is my style guide for tying these two trends together:

YSL.

"your accent is amazing!"

For this season's YSL Ready-To-Wear Collection, designer Stefano Pilati, emphasized the use of accents. Gloves, heavy chains, clutches, even splashes of color accentuated each look, while still maintaining simplicity & elegance.

YSL is one of my all time favorite designers. Not only am I inspired by his work, but his story also reminds me that all hard work & dedication in pursuing a career in fashion will be worth it in the end.
